First, I want to give praise where its due...Steven (sales) and Richard (Business office) were fantastic! Customer care was great! Now the issue...Serra Automotive Group, the Corporate owner of this dealer requires purchasers to use a "contracted third party" title company "Vitu Title Services". In my case, we were from Missouri, buying from this Indiana dealer. What that means is that we take delivery of our car, drive home to Missouri...Take car to a Missouri inspection station for emissions test & ID/OD...mail inspections back to the dealer (Which was lost by UPS)...nobody's fault. Paperwork was delayed (even after I sent them copies electronically, which in Missouri, no copies are actually needed, as our DMV is live with the inspection stations....The temporary license expires on our car. Then Vitu which charges about $220 more than the Missouri DMV to issue us a title & plate. Here's the kicker...Missouri allows you to do a two year (odd /even year) registration for an additional $28 you can get plates for 2 years....Vitu in all of it's overpriced glory only files for a 1 year plate...(cheap... maybe? or because there was a $50 late title penalty through no control of mine, perhaps they chose to skimp out?)....who knows! Either way, this will require me to get inspections and go to the DMV in a year, 2026, instead of 2027. Keep in mind, I asked repeatedly while I was in the business office at the dealership, if I could just do this on my own in Missouri (so it could be done properly and not complicate things)...the answer was "Serra (Corporate) makes us do this"....In this case it put a bad spin on a otherwise good experience. If Vitu can't handle the whole thing and perform fully & properly then Serra/Southshore should not force this upon the buyer! Shame on Serra's...lousy "policy"...and a small, but annoying money grab in the midst of a otherwise good experience.
